Saveurs Du Monde Café:
There’s a hidden gem found along Long Grove Drive in Mt. Pleasant, South Carolina that will give customers a little taste of Europe. The unassuming décor and the nearly naked window panes of Saveurs Du Monde Café belie what many of its customers soon realize – it offers one of the best crêpes and croissants in this side of town.
Its central kitchen is always busy rolling out baked goods and pastries to make sure hot and fresh products are available from sunrise to sundown. From galettes, quiches, tartines, French toasts to salads, there’s something here for the whole family.
Behind the food
Saveurs Du Monde Café promises an adventure of the palate, as your taste buds journey on a trip at the turn of the 20th Century when French cooking first made its mark on the culinary world.
While some people have some misconception about French cuisine as snooty and inaccessible, the opposite is actually the truth. It’s rooted in mastering the foundation to create what seems to be a simple dish but ultimately creates an explosion of senses in the mouth of the eater.
The whole idea, of course, is using each and every single ingredient to elevate the main element whether it’s a pastry, salad, or main dish. And that’s just the whole reason for Saveurs Du Monde Café: to introduce Americans to an intricate layer of flavors in neat little packages. The prices are affordable, which would be surprising to some considering the level of sophistication in some of the dishes.
Please the five senses
Walk-in clients are pleasantly surprised by the house blend coffee, which is created specifically to complement the restaurants baked goods. But this is a multi-culinary establishment so those who are hesitant to experiment can sample some of the more familiar food or baked goods.
The store aims to create experience by building flavors. Sending customers off with a full stomach is only half of the goal. The bigger question is whether they are satisfied enough that they come back again and again. The whole staff, with the close supervision of the owner herself, buys into this whole principle.
This is the reason why the restaurant has managed to grow its clientele by the recommendation of its customers to their family, friends and co-workers. More than word-of-mouth advertisement, Saveurs Du Monde Café was actually adjudged as the Best French Restaurant in the whole of Mt. Pleasant, which only served to affirm what its satisfied clients already know.
And the owner likes it that way as she thinks of each and every client as family. The presence of Saveurs Du Monde Café in Long Grove Drive is indeed a pleasant surprise amid the countless restaurants and bars that dot this long stretch of highway. For those of you not so lucky to be located in South Carolina, good news, Saveurs Du Monde is launching a European Café Franchise model to bring the brand and great food to new markets across the United States. Hopefully we all have a taste of France just around the corner in the coming years with the growth of the franchise model.
